Before you can take your Practical Driving Test you need to pass the theory test. The theory test is made up of two parts; multiple choice and hazard perception. You need to pass both parts to pass the theory test. Once you have passed the theory test you can then apply to take your practical driving test.

You'll be asked 50 multiple choice questions in 57 minutes the pass mark is 43 out of 50.

The Hazard Perception Test
You will view a series of 14 video clips, each showing potential hazards with a total of 15 hazards to identify. To achieve a high score you'll need to respond to the developing hazard during the early part of its development. Each hazard is worth a maximum of 5 points.
You need to score a minimum of 44 marks out of a possible 75 to pass.
The UK Theory Test requires more than just knowledge of the Highway Code, you must have a good knowledge of the following to pass it i.e. alertness, attitude, safety and your vehicle, safety margins, hazard awareness, vulnerable road users, vehicle handling, rules of the road, traffic signs, motorway rules, documents and accidents.

The Practical Driving Test
The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes during which you will be examined on your general driving and ability to reverse your vehicle safely. One exercise will be chosen from:
